MELAKA, July 11 (Bernama) -- The Melaka government is adding three new attractions under the ‘Melaka Bila Larut Malam’ programme this month to draw more visitors and tourists to the state in conjunction with Visit Melaka Year 2024 (VMY2024).

State Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman said that the new attractions include the Melaka Cool Ghost Museum in Kampung Hulu and Malaysia Heritage Studios in Ayer Keroh.

“In addition, the Alor Gajah Municipal Council (MPAG) will also participate by organising the Car Free Zone @ Santai Alor Gajah,” he said during the State Legislative Assembly sitting at Seri Negeri today.

He was responding to a question from Leng Chau Yen (PH-Bandar Hilir) about the state government’s and its agencies’ plans for the ‘Melaka Bila Larut Malam’ programme.

Abdul Razak said that the ‘Melaka Bila Larut Malam’ programme, which was first held on June 1, managed to attract 30,352 visitors and tourists based on attendance at the participating tourist destinations.

He said the Stadthuys area recorded an attendance of 19,798 people, Melaka Zoo had 4,012 visitors, Melaka River Cruise saw 3,896 attendees, Menara Taming Sari had 1,357 visitors, the Malaysia Prison Museum Melaka recorded 770 visitors, museums under the Melaka Museum Corporation attracted 289 people, and the Panggung Bangsawan saw 230 attendees.

The ‘Melaka Bila Larut Malam’ programme offers entry tickets as low as RM10 at several tourist locations and is held every Saturday on the first weekend of each month.

However, for this month, it is moved to July 13 as Maal Hijrah 2024/1446H was celebrated on July 7.
