PUCHONG, July 13 (Bernama) — The Ministry of National Unity (KPN) will expand its 'Ini Warisan Kita' initiative with the implementation of four new programmes this year.
Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said these four programmes are the Sarawak Cultural Heritage Festival, Sabah Cultural Heritage Festival, Know Our Minorities and Minority Ethnic Languages.
"KPN will further expand the 'Ini Warisan Kita' programme nationwide, including its implementation in schools to enhance the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of our diverse society about the nation's heritage treasures.
"The ministry will continue to support culturally and socially oriented programmes as they are seen to strengthen bonds, unify the people and enhance community relations for the well-being and harmony of the country," he said.
He said this when speaking at the closing dinner of the Gawai Dayak and Kaamatan 2024 organised by the Peninsular Borneo Children's Association (ABS) at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Sin Ming here tonight.
Aaron said that last year, KPN launched the 'Ini Warisan Kita' initiative as a key component of the Malaysia MADANI Unity Convoy programme under the concept of 'Unity in Diversity'.
He added that this initiative aims to instil a sense of love for the country through appreciation of the diversity of heritage inherited by the nation over generations.
Regarding tonight's programme, he felt that such initiatives can help diverse communities in Malaysia understand each other better, especially in terms of the customs and cultures of various ethnic groups.
"The approach of this programme also aligns with the slogan 'Segulai Sejalai', which means walking hand in hand, symbolising unity, harmony and the spirit of cooperation among the Malaysian people," he said, expressing his hope that such programmes can continue in efforts to preserve national harmony.
