KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has congratulated Selangor Red Giants Esports (SRG) for reaching the final of the Mid Season Cup Mobile Legend Bang Bang (MLBB) 2024 tournament held in Riyadh, today.
He said the e-sports team's remarkable journey and outstanding achievements in the international stage have brought immense pride to all Malaysians.
"No matter the result, you have already achieved greatness by making Malaysia proud. Your dedication, skills, and spirit are truly inspiring.
"I wish you every success as you strive to make history. Be the best, reach for glory, and know that the entire nation is cheering for you. Aim high, SRG, and continue to make us proud," he said in a statement posted on Facebook, today.
SRG became the first Malaysian team to qualify for the final of the Mid Season Cup MLBB 2024 championship after defeating Singapore’s NIP Flash in Riyadh yesterday.
In the semi-finals with a ‘best of five’ format, Michael Bocada’s charges started the match well to score 15 kills against eight in almost 15 minutes for an easy win.
SRG kept up their winning momentum in Match 2, taking only 12 minutes to score 19 ‘kills’ against nine.
In the third match, SRG recovered from an early falter to draw 17-17 and qualify for the final.
The Malaysian team will face Team Falcons AP Bren Sport, who beat Liquid Echo 3-1 in the other semi-final tie on Thursday.
