MUSK BLAMES US SECRET SERVICE FOR FAILING TO ENSURE SECURITY AT TRUMP'S RALLY

MOSCOW, July 15 (Bernama-Sputnik) -- US billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk insisted on Monday that the Secret Service was responsible for security lapses that nearly cost presidential candidate Donald Trump his life during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, reported Sputnik.

"Secret Service owns the fail. Period," Musk said in a post on X.

Media reported that the Secret Service was trying to shift the blame for the Saturday shooting onto the local police, claiming that the rooftop from where the shots came was outside of its protective perimeter.

Trump sustained a gunshot wound to his right ear and was briefly hospitalised after being shot at during the presidential campaign rally. The gunman killed a member of the audience and critically injured two others in the crowd before the Secret Service neutralised him.

The FBI is treating the incident as an assassination attempt and potential domestic terrorism. The suspected gunman was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.
