SINGAPORE, July 16 (Bernama) -- The Interpol Red Notice against Malaysian fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho or Jho Low, published at Singapore’s request on October 2016, remains in effect.
Singapore Police Force (SPF) said the settlement agreement between United States Department of Justice (DOJ) and Jho Low and his family on June 26, for the civil forfeiture actions instituted by the DOJ against them, has no bearing on the police’s criminal investigations against Low and his associates.
“Our Interpol Red Notice against him remains in effect,” the SPF said in a statement Tuesday, in response to media queries.
To date, the Singapore authorities have obtained court orders to release about S$103 million (S$1=RM3.48) of the seized 1MDB-related monies to the Malaysian government.
About S$164 million of 1MDB-related assets in Singapore remain seized or prohibited from disposal, including about S$101 million linked to Low and his family.
“The police, together with the Attorney-General’s Chambers, are working with our foreign counterparts to return these assets to Malaysia in accordance with the terms of the settlement agreement between Low and his family members and the US DOJ, and within our laws,” it said.
