BUKIT MERTAJAM, July 19 (Bernama) -- The Penang Regional Development Authority (PERDA) Entrepreneur Expo (EXPERT) 2024, scheduled to take place from Sept 26 to 29, aims to record RM1.7 million in sales and attract 75,000 visitors.
PERDA chairman Datuk Shaik Hussein Mydin said the third edition of EXPERT would see the participation of over 250 entrepreneurs and would be held at Midtown PERDA, Kubang Menerong in Tasek Gelugor, near here.
He said the expo with the theme ‘Inspirasi Lokal, Transformasi Global’ continues this year following the success of the first and second editions in 2022 and 2023.
“EXPERT was introduced to provide a centralised and comprehensive platform for new and existing entrepreneurs to promote their products and services, especially those from rural areas of Penang.
“It aligns with our objective to help entrepreneurs introduce and promote their company products or services, facilitating business matching activities and ultimately boosting their income,” he said at the EXPERT 2024 Pre-Launch Ceremony at a hotel here yesterday.
Also present was PERDA deputy general manager (management) Noor Hayati Ishak.
Shaik Hussein announced that 252 booth spaces would be sold at PERDA headquarters from 10 am to 4 pm starting next Monday (July 22) at affordable prices ranging from RM300 to RM600.
According to him, PERDA is also collaborating with TikTok Shop and other digital marketing agencies to help entrepreneurs market their products and services.
“I appreciate the support of TikTok Shop and influencers who will be joining us at EXPERT 2024. Nowadays, entrepreneurs operate not only physically but also online to ensure increased sales.
“Our goal to nurture more Bumiputera and Malay entrepreneurs can be realised through the EXPERT 2024 programme,” he said.
In addition to the 252 exhibition booths, EXPERT 2024 will feature 61 food stalls, a spa service room, 12 corporate sector booths, five service trucks or buses, and 10 TikTok live studio units.
“Given that Penang is renowned as a food paradise, PERDA is encouraging more food entrepreneurs to participate in this expo.
“We will also introduce two new segments, namely the EXPERT Food Festival and the EXPERT Live TikTok studio. We are offering entrepreneur booth prices as low as RM300 for the four-day programme to ensure that entrepreneurs are not burdened by high booth costs,” said Shaik Hussein.
EXPERT 2024 will also feature various other events, including the Agro MADANI Sales, Student Entrepreneur Seminar, Malam Selawat @ EXPERT 2024, Cat Grooming Show, Pickleball Championship, PERDA Robotic Challenge, Pushbike Rakan Litar, Street Soccer, Kids Fashionista, fun run, career carnival, Rahmah Sales and e-Games.
