JOHOR BAHRU, July 19 (Bernama) -- The Johor government held a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof to discuss the issue of water supply sources and related projects in the state.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the meeting held in Kuala Lumpur also discussed the state's water resources and supply project; new water resource project proposals; and water supply model to data centres.

"The state government with the support of the federal government is always committed to ensure the water supply is always sufficient to meet domestic, commercial and various industrial needs," he said in a post on Facebook today.

He said that taking into account the rapid development that will take place in Johor in addition to the high-impact project of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), he is confident that the demand for water supply will also increase.

Therefore, according to him, various efforts are being carefully designed to increase water supply capacity according to current needs with medium and long term planning.

"All this is to ensure the sustainability and well-being of the people of Johor will continue to be protected and preserved. It is the state government's great hope that the proposal presented will be given due attention and consideration.

"May all these efforts would bring great benefits and lasting good for all parties, especially the people of Johor," said Onn Hafiz.

The meeting was also attended by Johor Public Works, Transport, Infrastructure and Communications Committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh; Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) secretary-general Datuk Mad Zaidi Mohd Karli; and National Budget Office director Datuk Shahrol Anuwar Sarman.
