19/07/2024 06:55 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, July 19 (Bernama) -- The Federation Aviation Administration (FAA) has confirmed that several airlines have requested assistance with ground stops for their fleets due to a technical issue impacting information technology (IT) systems at United States (US) airlines.

In a post on X today (formerly known as Twitter), the US-based agency said it is closely monitoring the issue which has also affected several domestic airports in the country, leading to temporary closures.

Earlier, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) said in a posting on X that its network of airports in Malaysia remains unaffected by the global Microsoft outage.

However, MAHB said some of its airline partners are experiencing disruptions due to this issue.

The global IT outage has resulted in major travel disruptions in Europe, the US as well as Australian airports.
