KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 (Bernama) -- Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) international reserves amounted to US$113.3 billion as of July 15, 2024.
In a statement today, the central bank said the reserves position was sufficient to finance 5.4 months of imports of goods and services and was 1.0 time the total short-term external debt.
BNM said the main components of the international reserves were foreign currency reserves (US$101.0 billion), International Monetary Fund reserves position (US$1.3 billion), Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) (US$5.7 billion), gold (US$2.9 billion) and other reserve assets (US$2.4 billion).
The assets included gold and foreign exchange and other reserves, including SDRs (RM534.95 billion), Malaysian government papers (RM12.77 billion), deposits with financial institutions (RM9.69 billion), loans and advances (RM25.06 billion), land and buildings (RM4.12 billion), and other assets (RM51.21 billion), it said.
