HDC EXPECTS RM208.7 MLN POTENTIAL SALES FROM SAUDI FOOD SHOW

KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 (Bernama) -- The Halal Development Corporation (HDC) expects to generate RM208.7 million worth of sales from the Saudi Food Show which took place from May 21 to 23, 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, HDC, an agency under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, said it has achieved outstanding outcomes from the trade show, including 59 pre-arranged business-to-business meetings and over 100 walk-ins, culminating in promising engagements with more than 110 global buyers.

During the trade show, HDC reaffirmed Malaysia’s position as a global leader in the halal sector through an engaging showcase of diverse products and services.

The HDC Pavilion hosted 15 Malaysian halal companies and export-ready companies, attracting significant attention from industry professionals, investors, and potential partners.

Meanwhile, chief executive officer Hairol Ariffein Sahari said HDC is set to participate in the Food and Hospitality Indonesia 2024 in its commitment to expand Malaysia’s halal footprint scheduled from July 23-26, 2024 at the Jakarta International Expo.

The expo will feature over 500 exhibitors from 20 countries, showcasing products from the food, beverages, and hospitality sectors.

As the world’s most Muslim-populated country, Indonesia has been recognised as a strong anchor within the global halal food and beverage market, being the largest exporter (US$7.83 billion) and the second-largest importer (US$17.54 billion) of halal food among all Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) members in 2020.
