KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 (Bernama) -- The National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) has commenced the Sixth Malaysian Population and Family Survey (KPKM) 2024 to collect the latest data and information on population, families and reproductive health in Malaysia.

Its deputy director-general, Ahmad Hashimi Mohammad said the KPKM is the board’s flagship survey conducted every 10 years, and a total of 37,550 randomly selected houses will be visited this year.

"The difference between the KPKM and Population Census is that the KPKM focuses on more detailed and in-depth questions, including those related to marriage, divorce, family planning, fertility, the number of children born as well as sexual activity.

"Such matters will be asked to enable the LPPKN to advise the government to make policies related to population, family and reproductive health based on the data obtained," Ahmad Hashimi said when he was a guest on Bernama TV’s ‘Apa Khabar Malaysia’ programme.

He also said the KPKM involved five categories of respondents namely married women, married men, between the ages of 15 and 59; youth between the ages of 13 and 24; seniors, aged 60 and above; and singles, aged 25 and 59.
