KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 (Bernama) -- Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) and AREX Airport Railroad Co. Ltd. (AREX) have signed a partnership agreement to provide seamless travel for passengers between Kuala Lumpur and Incheon, South Korea.
The partnership was signed by ERL Chief Executive Officer Noormah Mohd Noor and AREX's CEO Kim Jongdae and witnessed by the Ambassador of South Korea to Malaysia Yeo Seung-bae.
According to the joint statement by both companies, under the partnership, passengers travelling to and from Kuala Lumpur and Incheon can purchase bundled ERL & AREX train tickets on Klook in just one transaction.
“This innovative option allows passengers to purchase ERL and AREX train tickets in a single transaction, significantly simplifying airport transfer arrangements for international travellers and enhancing their travel experience,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, Noormah in the statement was quoted as saying that aside from offering the bundled train tickets, ERL hopes the partnership would establish an alliance among dedicated airport rail operators, with objectives similar to airline alliances such as OneWorld and Star Alliance
“Currently, there are more than 25 dedicated air-rail services in the world, a number sufficient for airport rail operators to ally similar to an airline alliance, and we are motivated to reach out to other operators for this alliance to materialise shortly,” she said.
Noormah also expressed gratitude to AREX for their dedication to the partnership and emphasised that it would help ERL penetrate the Korean market and increase awareness of their train services among travellers planning to visit Kuala Lumpur.
“Korean tourists can now enjoy a seamless and efficient transfer from the airport to the city centre, enhancing their overall travel experience,” she said.
Meanwhile, Kim said they looked forward to sharing each other's strength and providing more convenient railway services through close cooperation in various fields.
Yeo meanwhile, said the agreement would further solidify the relationship between the two countries and serve as a crucial step in enhancing the quality of railway services.
After the signing ceremony, delegates from AREX visited ERL’s in-town flight check-in facility at KL Sentral where check-in services and self-service kiosks are available for Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, Cathay Pacific, KLM, and Ethiopian Air.
The ERL & AREX Bundle Package has been available for purchase on Klook since July 15, 2024, and to celebrate the launch, ERL and AREX are offering a 10 per cent discount on the first 500 tickets, with each one-way adult ticket priced at RM71.65, subject to terms and conditions.
