KESUMA PLANS TO INTRODUCE PREMIER COURSES AT 32 ILP NATIONWIDE

24/07/2024 05:40 PM

KUALA NERUS, July 24 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) plans to introduce premier courses at each of the 32 industrial training institutes (ILPs) across the country.

Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad said that this initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) field in Malaysia.

“Each ILP will have its own premier course according to its area, and the field will be further strengthened. We will implement measures that we believe will provide opportunities for students.

“However, I cannot provide the details just yet. The proposal must first be presented to the Cabinet for approval,” he said after officiating the closing ceremony of the 2024 Eastern Zone Karnival Jelajah MADANI Jom Masuk TVET programme at ILP Kuala Terengganu here today.

Abdul Rahman said the planning was prompted by high demand from students and various stakeholders, such as ILP Pengerang in Johor, which focuses on the oil and gas sector.

“ILP Kuala Terengganu, with its focus on mechanical, electrical, and civil courses, meanwhile, contributes 35 per cent to the nation’s skilled workforce. This is not a small amount, and it demonstrates the success of ILP Kuala Terengganu in providing skilled manpower for the country,” he said.
