KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 (Bernama-Sputnik) - Russia and Malaysia intend to increase the volume of mutual trade and develop investment cooperation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Sunday, reported Sputnik.

"We have talked about the need to focus now on increasing mutual trade, which in the last couple of years has been a bit weak ... We continue to strengthen the legal framework. In May, we signed an updated agreement on avoiding double taxation. It will soon come into force, and, of course, it will help the development of our investment cooperation," Lavrov said at a press conference following his visit to Malaysia.

A couple of dozen draft intergovernmental agreements are at varying stages of readiness, and the parties have agreed to accelerate work on them, the minister added.

Lavrov noted that the talks with Malaysian leadership were meaningful and constructive, the sides reviewed the entire range of bilateral cooperation.
