PHNOM PENH, Aug 1 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- A total of 584,375 international tourists had visited Cambodia's famous Angkor Archaeological Park in the first seven months of 2024, up 33 per cent from 439,365 over the same period last year, said a news release on Thursday.

The park made US$27.17 million in revenue from ticket sales during the January-July period this year, up 33.8 per cent from US$20.3 million over the same period last year, Xinhua quoted the state-owned Angkor Enterprise's news release.

In July this year alone, the ancient site attracted 62,425 foreign holidaymakers, earning US$2.82 million in revenue, up 16 per cent and 15 per cent, respectively compared to the same month last year, the report said.

The top five source markets for the park were the United States, Britain, France, South Korea and China.

Situated in northwest Siem Reap province, the 401-square-km Angkor Archaeological Park is home to 91 ancient temples, which had been built from the ninth to the 13th centuries.

The park, inscribed on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation in 1992, is the most popular tourist destination in the Southeast Asian country.
