KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- The gathering in solidarity with Palestine to be held at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil this Sunday is one of the moves to send a strong message to the world that Malaysia is condemning the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh and will continue to support Palestine.

In fact, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Cabinet had discussed and issued a firm statement on the Palestinian issue.

“We have already discussed this in the Cabinet meeting, we have made a firm statement. We will also hold a gathering in solidarity with Palestine this Sunday. I think it is enough to convey the message.”

He said this when met at the Yasin recital, tahlil and doa selamat event in conjunction with the Warriors’ Day 2024 celebration at Masjid Negara here today, which was attended by 1,000 congregants including members of the Royal Malaysian Police and the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).

Also present were Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, Chief of Defence Forces General Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman and Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.

The Yasin recital, tahlil and doa selamat were led by the Grand Imam of Masjid Negara Ehsan Mohd Hosni.
