Perakians Urged To Participate In 1 Rumah, 1 Jalur Gemilang Initiative - Saarani

LUMUT, Aug 3 (Bernama) -- Perakians have been encouraged to actively participate in the ‘1 Rumah, 1 Jalur Gemilang’ initiative, which aims to foster a deeper sense of national pride and unity.

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad emphasised that displaying the Jalur Gemilang at home is a powerful symbol embracing the Malaysian identity.

“I urge not only households but also business establishments across the state to hoist the Jalur Gemilang. This act serves as a tribute to the sacrifices made by previous generations, and embodies our shared national spirit,” he said during the launch of the state-level National Month and the Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2024 campaign, at Dataran Putra, here, today.

Saarani’s speech was read by the State Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transport Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin. 

Additionally, Saarani called on the public to stand united and reject any divisive rhetoric, especially on social media platforms, which could undermine harmony and solidarity within the community.

He said that at this point the abuse of the medium is seen as worrying, and it is often used by irresponsible parties to undermine the country’s harmony.

“These groups are intent on dividing society, by sowing discord through unethical actions,” he said.

“It is crucial for everyone to contribute positively, by sharing only authentic and constructive content, to maintain unity among the country’s multi-racial community,” he said.

Meanwhile, the event saw around 5,000 attendees, including civil servants and local residents from Manjung.
