KUCHING, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak Craft Council (SCC) will organise the BorneoCraft Global Expo and Conference 2024 (BCG2024) from Nov 27 to Dec 1 at the Kuching Waterfront, Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said.
He said the expo and conference offer Sarawak an opportunity to showcase its unique talents and skills to the world.
“It has the potential to transform Sarawak into a premier tourism destination, attracting visitors from near and far who are eager to experience the rich tapestry of our cultural heritage and witness the skill and creativity of our artisans first-hand,” he told a press conference here today.
He said the event will bring economic benefits to Sarawak, as locals could take advantage of e-commerce platforms and digital marketing strategies to reach a wider global market for their crafts.
It will also help to foster a greater appreciation for local crafts and traditions, he added.
According to a Sarawak Craft Council statement, the highlights of the event include a conference and various workshops exclusive to conference delegates, the MasterCraft Challenge, and an exhibition-cum-market open to the public.
