JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- A teacher pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to four charges of failing to report bribes amounting to RM33,870.10 to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

According to all charges, Abdul Aziz Husin, 54, was bribed by a 56-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman through four transactions ranging from RM1,300 to RM17,070.10 and allegedly failed to report all the gifts to MACC in violation of provision Section 25(1) MACC Act 2009.

All the offences were allegedly committed at a bank in Jalan Niaga 1, Kota Tinggi on Nov 9, 2022 and Jan 17 last year under Section 25(2) of the same act which carries a fine of not more than RM100,000 or imprisonment of up to 10 years or both, upon conviction.

Judge Datuk Ahmad Kamal Arifin Ismail allowed bail for the accused at RM20,000 for all charges with one surety with the additional condition of reporting to the Batu Pahat MACC office once a month and handing over his passport to the court.

The court set September 8 for re-mention of the case for the submission of documents.

The prosecution was handled by MACC prosecuting officer Alice Voon Mei Ling while Abdul Aziz was represented by counsel Mohd Razak Sharif.
