CAIRO, Aug 15 (Bernama-WAM) – Egypt emphasised the necessity and urgency of achieving an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensuring the full delivery of humanitarian aid to the region.
It stressed that this approach is the only way to halt regional escalation and contain attempts to widen the conflict, Emirates news agency (WAM) reported.
Egypt also stressed the need for all parties to positively engage with Egyptian, Qatari, and the United States (US) mediation efforts and commit to ceasefire negotiations.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty made these remarks during a phone call with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday to consult and coordinate on key developments in the region.
During the phone call, the two sides reviewed the ongoing efforts to contain the current escalation in the region and work towards a ceasefire in Gaza. They discussed the outcomes of their respective communications and efforts in this regard.
The phone call also covered the efforts to resolve the crisis in Sudan, especially in light of the Geneva meetings.
In this regard, Abdel Atty reiterated Egypt’s support for all efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Sudan to end the suffering of the Sudanese people and protect their lives and property.
