SUKMA 2024: Media Folk Happy With Service Provided By Host Sarawak

KUCHING, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- Media practitioners stationed in Sarawak to cover the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) are satisfied with the facilities and services provided by the organiser, thus far.

Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM) vice-president Hazreen Mubarak feels that the host has made it easier for media practitioners to obtain information and results of events via the SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024 app.

Hazreen, a TV3 broadcast journalist, said the app has helped him to provide comprehensive and prompt reports throughout the Games.

“At previous SUKMA editions, if you wanted access to information and results, you would have to visit the website. This SUKMA app that has been developed is a game changer as it facilitates the work of media practitioners.

“The main aspect of this app is that it provides information and results of events promptly. This is good because we need to be fast in sending our reports and the information must also be accurate,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

Kosmo journalist Mohd Fitrie Muhammad, who had also covered the 2016 SUKMA in Sarawak, echoed Hazreen’s views and admitted that the Games environment at this edition is different.

“I have to admit that the organisation of SUKMA in Sarawak is a little different, with much better facilities and amenities… they have made our job as journalists easier,” he said.

The Star’s S. Saktesh concurred, saying he too was satisfied with the service provided by the organiser, who diligently entertained all their questions and requests.

“The staff at every venue is very helpful, especially the technical officials. If we ask them a question, they will quickly try to find an answer.

“The media centre here is also equipped with various facilities. They also serve us food... that means we won’t go hungry,” he quipped.
