KUCHING, Aug 18 (Bernama) - The top two spots for Group D in the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) men’s hockey competition will be decided by a penalty shootout tomorrow after Terengganu and the Federal Territories (FT) ended their group campaign tied on points and goal difference.
Based on the competition draw, Pahang will meet Perlis and Perak will face off against Sabah in the quarterfinal action on Tuesday.
Johor and Melaka will wait to see who they’ll be playing against after tomorrow’s Group D penalty shootout.
The other men’s hockey teams will compete in classification matches to determine their final standings in the biennial event.
In the women's category, Penang defeated Melaka 4-0, while Pahang edged Negeri Sembilan 1-0 in Group A at the Petra Jaya Hockey Stadium.
In Group B, Terengganu struggled against FT, losing 2-4 while Selangor comfortably beat Johor 4-1.
Group-stage matches for the women’s category will end on Tuesday, as teams vie for a spot in the semi-finals to be played Thursday.
