JAKARTA, Aug. 20 (Bernama) -- Indonesia and Australia will expand cooperation under the new Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, according to Indonesia's Ministry of Defence.
This follows a meeting between Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, along with Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles, in Canberra on Tuesday.
The Ministry, in a statement, said that the meeting focused on discussions about enhancing the bilateral relations between the two neighbouring countries.
In a press conference, Prabowo stated that he is committed to continuing the relationship to make it even better, while Albanese expressed hope to continue working with Indonesia to shape a "peaceful, stable, and prosperous region, while respecting the sovereignty" of both countries.
Marles also expressed his pleasure in collaborating and getting to know Prabowo, as the Defence Minister, for a significant step forward in defence cooperation.
"Australia and Indonesia are cooperating more closely than ever before and expanding the scope and complexity of joint exercises as we address shared regional challenges," he said.
