IPOH, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- The Perak government aims for state to have 90 National Information Dissemination Centre (NADIs) completed, with various facilities, by the end of the year.

State Communications, Multimedia and Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Committee chairman Mohd Azlan Helmi said currently a total of 71 NADIs are fully operational in 13 districts in the state.

“A total of 19 new NADIs had been approved to be established in the state of which 11 have already been completed while the remaining eight are being completed,” he said after the launching ceremony of the Perak State Level MCMC Microsoft AI Teach programme at the Innovation and Multimedia Hub, Bandar Meru Raya here today.

"Currently the eight NADIs are in the final phase of construction and we expect them to be fully completed within the next two months.”

Additionally, Mohd Azlan said his team is in final discussions with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to implement a 'go down to the field’ programme that offers services similar to those found in any NADI.

"This programme can provide added value because we are facing constraints to establish NADI in each village, but the expansion of NADI services in the surrounding area can provide benefits to more communities," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the MCMC Microsoft AI Teach programme, he said a total of 208 participants were selected in the state to follow the artificial intelligence (AI) capacit-building programme.

He also said that participants were selected from various groups including the B40, persons with disabilities (PwD) and the unemployed.

"This programme can introduce AI technology skills easily and effectively to the people of Perak. This is an opportunity to reduce the career gap through the teaching and learning of new digital skill sets,” he added.
