Pakistan Vows No Leniency In Fight Against Terrorism

27/08/2024 04:56 PM

NEW DELHI, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- Pakistan on Tuesday vowed no leniency in combating terrorism, a day after dozens of people were killed in a spate of militant attacks in Balochistan province.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad to discuss the attacks in which about 50 people, including 14 security personnel were killed.

"The time has come to eliminate terrorism," he was quoted as saying by the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan news agency.

"We need to move forward with firm resolve. There is no question of any weakness," he said.

Shehbaz said terrorism is being used against Pakistan to impede its progress, damage the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects in Balochistan and undermine the country's close alliance with China.
