'Langkahan Merdeka' Further Enhances National Month Celebration Spirit Among Bernama Staff

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- The ‘Langkahan Merdeka’ programme, held today, significantly enhanced the National Month celebration spirit among the staff of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama).

According to Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, the programme included a 6,700-step event, to mark this year’s 67th National Day celebration.

“Along with Bernama staff, the programme also saw participation from other attendees. This initiative underscores Bernama's commitment to enabling staff to celebrate the National Month collectively,” he said after officiating the event at Kebun Bandar Sungai Bunus (KBSB) today.

Organised by the Digital Library Division of the Bernama Centre of Excellence, and in collaboration with Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) and KBSB, the 'Langkahan Merdeka' event not only marks the National Day celebration but also supports the National Language Decade (DBK).

Bernama Digital Library Senior Manager Hasnita Ibrahim said that the one-day programme also featured the TikTok Kemerdekaan Competition, bibliotherapy book sharing, and a patriotic song contest, with cash prizes up to RM500.

“In addition to enhancing love for the country, this programme also promotes Bernama's digital library,” she said.

Hasnita, who is also the KBSB Association Committee secretary, added that choosing KBSB as the venue was aimed at encouraging a gardening culture among Bernama staff, with Bernama being one of the 11 owners of the garden since its inception in 2014.
