No Malaysians Reported To Be Affected By Typhoon Shanshan So Far

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 29 (Bernama) -- No Malaysians have been reported to be involved or affected by Typhoon Shanshan which made landfall in Kyushu Island, Japan on Thursday morning, the Foreign Ministry said. 

The Ministry, in a statement, said the information received was up to date as of 4pm local time today. 

“The typhoon is expected to move over Japan’s southwest before travelling northward and crossing into the central regions, including the Kanto Region (which includes Tokyo) in the coming days,” it said, adding that the Ministry is monitoring the development closely. 

It urged Malaysians in the affected areas to stay vigilant and follow the latest updates and guidance provided by the local authorities.

Those who have not yet registered and updated their whereabouts and details are strongly encouraged to do so immediately at https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my, it added.

Kyodo news agency reported that the severe weather resulted in 80 injuries and three fatalities.
