KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- The Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Specialist Centre (UKMSC) is exploring international prospects, particularly with Indonesia, to forge collaborations in technology utilisation and expertise exchange.

UKMSC chief operating officer Dr Muhammad Naqib Md Ghazali said the collaboration seeks to facilitate the treatment of patients from the country in Malaysia.

He said that, for that purpose, a meeting was recently held with several strategic partners in Indonesia and with the Royal Prima Medan Hospital director to discuss potential collaborations in health services, such as fertility treatments, tumour care, and the use of Gamma Knife radiation technology.

“UKMSC is enthusiastic about sharing its skills and expertise and is open to exploring business opportunities that offer mutual benefits,” he said in a statement here today.

In the same statement, UKMSC Medical Director Associate Professor Datuk Dr Badrul Akmal Hisham Md Yusoff said that in line with this effort, UKMSC has established partnerships with Malaysia Airlines Indonesia, CIMB Niaga Syariah Indonesia, My 1 Care, and SOMPO Insurance Indonesia

According to him, patients receiving treatment at UKMSC can benefit from a special round-trip flight package in collaboration with Malaysia Airlines Indonesia, as well as health treatment financing options through credit cards and online payment facilities in partnership with CIMB Niaga Syariah Indonesia.

“To ease the burden on patients, My 1 Care provides accommodation and transportation facilities before and during their stay in Malaysia, as well as upon their return to Indonesia.

“This will offer patients a comprehensive experience and support across various aspects while they prepare to seek treatment at UKMSC in Kuala Lumpur,” said Dr Badrul Akmal Hisham.

In addition, SOMPO Insurance Indonesia provides services to assist patients with payment matters throughout their treatment process at UKMSC

Meanwhile, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz director Datuk Dr Azmi Baharudin said the collaboration has facilitated the exchange and sharing of modern medical technology knowledge between the two countries.

“This strategic partnership is expected to enhance UKM’s (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia)  performance not only in education but also in the medical sector,” he said.
