KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7 (Bernama) -- Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) today introduced its latest product known as the ‘Railway To See Malaysia (RTSM) Excursion Train’ (Promising Perak edition) in conjunction with Visit Perak Year 2024.

The initiative is one of RTSM's campaigns that were launched in May this year aimed at promoting KTMB as the main driver of the Rail Tourism industry in Malaysia and KTMB's initial preparations to boost the upcoming Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

KTMB chief corporate officer Suhaimi Yaacob said this train is scheduled for Sept 7, Oct 5, Oct 26 and Nov 9 for travel on Saturdays (KL Sentral to Taiping) and on Sept 8, Oct 6, Oct 27 and Nov 10 for travel on Sundays (Taiping to KL Sentral).

“Among the station stops are Batu Gajah, Ipoh, Kuala Kangsar and Taiping. This train will depart at 8.15 am from KL Sentral Station and arrive at Taiping Station at 1.23 pm,” he said after launching the RTSM Excursion Train today.

He said the special feature of this train is that passengers can experience riding a conventional train using diesel locomotives which are now no longer in use on the northern route.

He said this train is also equipped with Chillax coaches (no seats but bean bags on carpet to lounge in), Café coaches apart from seat coaches offered with 36 seats for the first class offered at a price of RM74 one-way and 240 seats for the second class coach offered at RM51 each way.

He said that through effective promotions, attractive packages and the scenic beauty along the journey, KTMB is confident of providing a different experience for tourists to increase local economic income.

The public can purchase tickets through the KTMB Mobile application (KITS), the KTMB website at www.ktmb.com.my or ticket kiosk machines and/or contact KTMB call centre at 03-9779 1200 for more information.
