Sabalenka Wins Women's US Open For Third Grand Slam Singles Title

MOSCOW, Sept 8 (Bernama-Sputnik) -- Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka defeated US opponent Jessica Pegula in the women's singles final of the 2024 US Open Tennis Championship, which was held in New York, reported Sputnik. 

In the decisive match, world No. 2 Sabalenka, seeded second, defeated the tournament's sixth racket Pegula with a score of 7:5, 7:5 in one hour and 53 minutes.

Sabalenka, 26, won her third Grand Slam title in singles after winning the Australian Open in 2023 and 2024. She also won the US Open (2019) and Australian Open (2021) in doubles. At last year's US Open, the Belarusian reached the final of the tournament, where she lost to American, Coco Gauff.
