KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 (Bernama) -- War-torn Palestine are determined to stay on course in the third round of their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign, despite facing numerous challenges.

After managing to hold Asian giants South Korea to a goalless draw in Group B last week, head coach Makram Daboub hopes that, his charges would maintain the momentum against Jordan at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras here tomorrow.

“It was a tough situation for us before, but we managed to play well against South Korea and get a good result. For tomorrow, we hope to perform just as we did before.

“We’ve had a week-long training camp (in Malaysia), and our players are ready for the next game. We hope to play in our home field in Palestine one day because its important to play at home in in front of our spectators,” he said at the pre-match press conference here today.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Rami Hamada described Malaysia as their "second home" and expressed gratitude to the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for providing them with the opportunity to play here.

He said the Lions of Canaan would put up a strong fight, as they did against South Korea.

“We are proud of our performance against Korea. It’s a motivation for us to continue delivering a strong performance this week,” Hamada said.

Jordan’s coach Jamal Sellami has cautioned his boys not to underestimate Palestine, despite having a favourable track record in last their three encounters, having won twice and drew once.

He also urged his team to move on from the 1-1 draw against Kuwait in the first match last week to be focused and organised in order to secure three points, tomorrow.

“We lost two points to Kuwait and our goal (tomorrow) is to get three points. This match is important for us and the team is ready to win,” he said.

Jamal said he will make some changes to his team's first eleven after key player Musa Al-Taamari sustained an injury against Kuwait.

Palestine chose Malaysia as the neutral venue to play the qualifiers, due to unrest in Palestine caused by Israeli occupancy.
