KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- The Embassy of Poland in Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with Partners for Peace Malaysia, will commemorate the International Day of Peace with a series of events in the historical city of Taiping, Perak, also known as the City of Everlasting Peace.

In a statement, the Polish Embassy said that the celebration, scheduled for Saturday, Sept 21, 2024, aims to promote peace, unity, and community support.

The Cultural Affairs and Public Diplomacy Officer from the Polish Embassy, JoAnna Jurczyga, extends a warm invitation to all community members, residents of Taiping, and peace advocates to join this special celebration.

"Let us come together to commemorate the International Day of Peace in a city renowned for its tranquillity and embrace the values of unity, compassion, and understanding," she said in the statement.

Highlighting the event, the Lamborghini Owners Malaysia (LOM) will organise a Charity Drive to Taiping, led by its President, Datuk Roslan Rosdi.

The convoy will include 15 supercars, representing Taiping's 150-year history with one car for every decade, featuring various Lamborghini models such as Huracán, Urus, Murciélago, Gallardo, and Aventador, symbolising the blend of luxury and a commitment to social causes.

In a gesture of solidarity and support, LOM will also make a charitable donation to Sekolah Semangat Maju, a school dedicated to children with intellectual disabilities, which is an act that embodies the event's theme of unity and community support, reinforcing the message of inclusivity and compassion.

Furthermore, the day's events will feature significant contributions from international speakers such as the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Ukraine in Malaysia, Denys Mykhailiuk, who will deliver a Peace Talk, emphasising the crucial role of dialogue and understanding in fostering global harmony, and author and historian Professor Dr Gary Lit Ying Loong will present a Peace Lecture, offering insights into the historical and cultural dimensions of peace.

In the evening, attendees will be treated to a classical concert at St. George's School in Taiping. The concert will be headlined by the renowned Polish violinist, Kaja Karolina Giżewska, accompanied by Taiping's own pianist, Kok Kee Boon.

The International Day of Peace event in Taiping is anticipated to attract many participants, showcasing the community's dedication to peace and solidarity. This celebration honours Taiping's rich history and envisions a future of harmony and mutual respect.
