KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 (Bernama) -- All issues presented, along with proposed actions and outcomes from the 2024 Halal Ecosystem Transformation (TEH2024) workshop will be submitted for government consideration via the Halal Industry Development Council (MPIH).
According to a statement by the Halal Development Corporation Berhad (HDC), TEH2024, which takes place over two days starting today, has successfully garnered the participation of representatives from more than 15 ministries and 151 organisations, resulting in a highly productive discussion on the role and future of the national halal industry.
“Through a consultative approach with stakeholders, it helps to formulate and review policies aimed at driving the country's economic growth by boosting trade, fostering sustainable industry development, and encouraging quality investments,” said the HDC statement here today.
The TEH2024 workshop was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and is an MPIH initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim), and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
According to HDC, TEH2024 witnessed discussions and exchanges of views between representatives from Malaysian business organisations, national and international chambers of commerce on the best strategies to strengthen the halal ecosystem for national trade and investment.
In his speech, Ahmad Zahid highlighted the overall achievements in halal industry development, including production, investment, and trade performance. He also emphasised four key focus areas: national halal policies, research and innovation centres, halal certification, and the Malaysian halal academy.
He further announced that from next year onwards, September will be designated as the annual month for promoting halal products and services.
"During the TEH2024 workshop, the Deputy Prime Minister announced the need for coordination of all halal ecosystem-related implementations through MPIH, which he chairs, in line with the decision made by the Cabinet Meeting on Sept 18," the statement added.
