KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 (Bernama) -- A paper airplane competition will be one of the events featured at the Air Sports Championship 2024, to be held in conjunction with the Air Sports Festival 2024 from Oct 10 to 13 at MAEPS Serdang.
There will be two categories namely longest distance flight and airtime endurance.
Malaysia Sports Aviation Federation (MSAF) deputy president, Mohamad Fadzli Abd Aziz said the competition is open to participants of all ages and backgrounds who are interested in taking part.
"Those interested in participating can visit the official MSAF website.We will be posting all the necessary information about the competition there," he told a press conference here today.
In addition, he said other sports such as paragliding, paramotoring, aeromodelling and drone racing will also be contested during the championship.
“This is the first time such a championship is being held in Malaysia. It marks the country’s effort to elevate the 2024 Air Sports Championship to an international-level competition.
“Moreover, this event is expected to position Malaysia as a regional air sports hub in Asia by 2027,” he said.
He added that air sports enthusiasts can look forward to exciting experiences at the festival, including joyrides, where participants can board a two-seater aircraft and enjoy scenic views from hot air balloons.
