MANILA, Oct 2 (Bernama) — Asia Pacific business aviation has plenty of growth opportunities, including the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Malaysia, and the sector is set to have a bullish outlook next year, according to the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC).

The council’s director general Kurt Edwards said economies in the region are growing and that typically indicates the use of business aircraft will grow. “Countries like Philippines and Malaysia need business connectivity and I believe fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters are perfect for these types of roles,” he told Bernama at the 2024 Aviation Summit Philippines here today.

He also noted that Malaysia is highly ranked in terms of the number of business aircraft with many foreign business aircraft operators passing through the country. He added that the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, better known as Subang Airport, could play a complementary role the Seletar Airport in Singapore and boost the aviation industry.

Regionally, Edwards said the Philippines has 19 per cent of the business aircraft fleet in Southeast Asia while Indonesia has more at 25 per cent, where both countries have the largest archipelagos.

Business aviation involves the transportation of employees to job sites and allows managers to visit multiple cities in one day.

IBAC is a non-profit international trade association with official observer status at the International Civil Aviation Organisation.  It represents the interests of business aviation worldwide.
