SHAH ALAM, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- The three-day Selangor Entrepreneur Expo (SELBIZ) 2024, organised by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) starting yesterday, aims to generate RM3 million in sales and attract over 45,000 visitors.

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari expressed confidence that this year’s target, surpassing the RM2.2 million in sales recorded at last year’s expo, is well within reach, given the improving economic conditions.

He said that SELBIZ, now in its third year, continues to expand with exciting offerings through the participation of 230 exhibitors showcasing various products ranging from manufacturing and retail to services.

“The government greatly appreciate PKNS’s proactive commitment to supporting the state’s economic growth through various entrepreneurial programmes, including the third edition of SELBIZ.

“This year, we are targeting over 45,000 visitors and sales transactions amounting to RM3 million, which I believe is achievable given the current economic conditions,” he told a press conference after officiating SELBIZ 2024 at the Setia City Convention Centre here today.

Also present were State Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi and PKNS deputy chief executive officer (corporate) Suhaimi Kasdon.

Amirudin added that many exhibitors participating in the expo are entrepreneurs nurtured through PKNS’s entrepreneurial development programmes, reflecting the corporation’s proactive efforts to help them bring their products to a broader market.

Meanwhile, Suhaimi said SELBIZ is a PKNS initiative aimed at helping Selangor entrepreneurs expand their business networks, discover new opportunities, promote their products and gain more insights into the entrepreneurial sector.

“This platform offers comprehensive opportunities for entrepreneurs, whether seasoned business owners or newcomers to the field.

“We also aim to encourage sales and promotional activities while helping entrepreneurs boost their sales revenue through this expo,” he explained.

Suhaimi further said that PKNS allocates over RM7 million annually to organise entrepreneurial development programmes like SELBIZ and participate in international events.

To date, more than 50,000 entrepreneurs have participated in PKNS’s mentorship programmes, and the corporation is also actively working to help promising entrepreneurs expand overseas, such as through participation in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) in Kuala Lumpur and the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) in Nanning, China.

“In addition, PKNS plans to help entrepreneurs explore international markets, including participating in MIHAS Expo in Dubai in November,” he said.
