KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- Kampung Pertanian in Kulai, Johor has been chosen as the "foster village” of the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa through the "Satu Pemimpin Satu Kampung" (Santuni MADANI) programme.
She said today that she chose the village as she used to run a clinic in the Bandar Putra Kulai area, with most of her patients being residents from Kampung Pertanian.
"So, this village is very nostalgic to me. Last month, my political secretary went there to meet local leaders as well as to identify their needs and the local demographics in the area,” she posted on Facebook today.
She said that she, Putrajaya Corporation president Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud and a delegation from the Federal Territories Department today held a discussion with Kulai District Officer Fizwan Mohd Rashidi, Kulai Municipal Council president Mohd Fahmi Salam, the village head, representatives of the Village Development and Security Committee and a representative from the Kulai Member of Parliament's Office.
"There is room and potential for collaboration between Putrajaya Corporation and Kampung Pertanian, including through the initiatives that we are currently intensifying in the Federal Territory, namely the Waste to Wealth and Community Farm. Insya-Allah, if properly and systematically implemented, we can raise the socio-economic status of the residents.
"During the discussion, Putrajaya Corporation also presented proposals for the beautification of the banks of Sungai Skudai and the potential for turning Kampung Pertanian into a domestic tourist attraction,” said Dr Zaliha.
The Santuni MADANI Programme aims to enhance the village's potential and community capacity through direct engagement and consultations to identify socio-economic challenges and needs in selected villages, involving Cabinet Ministers, top government leaders, and government-linked companies.
