KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- Various attractive tourism package offers, including discounts from 15 to 50 per cent, awaiting visitors at the Cuti-Cuti Malaysia Carnival (KCCM) 2024, which will run for three days at the Craft Complex in Jalan Conlay here, starting Oct 25.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan said that KCCM 2024, themed ‘Crafting Holidays’, will offer discounts on more than 100 tourism packages, providing an opportunity for the public to plan vacations while experiencing local arts, crafts, and cultural heritage activities firsthand.

“Some of the attractive domestic tourism packages offered include nature-based destinations, cultural experiences, and adventure activities.

“Visitors can take advantage of holiday deals that cover popular destinations across Malaysia, as well as unique activities such as heritage tours, water sports, scuba diving, birding, stargazing, and nature adventures,” he said during the pre-launch of KCCM 2024 today.

The deputy minister said that the inaugural KCCM 2024, introduced through a strategic collaboration between Tourism Malaysia and Kraftangan Malaysia, aims to boost domestic tourism activities by offering direct sales of tourism packages to the public.

“At the same time, we also want to help bolster the local economy by engaging over 100 industry players, including state tourism departments, travel agencies, tourism product owners, hotel and theme park operators, and craft entrepreneurs,” he said.

Khairul Firdaus also highlighted the introduction of Pasar Saloma, a marketplace designed in the style of a classic Malay village, as a platform for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Pasar Saloma will evoke a nostalgic theme, featuring more than 30 booths where vendors dressed in traditional attire will offer a variety of traditional dishes and unique products cherished through generations.

“A wide range of activities, including musical performances, cultural dances, craft demonstrations, flying roti canai shows, and lucky draws, had also been lined up for the carnival,” he said, adding that this year’s tourism and cultural activities also serve as preparations for Malaysia’s role as ASEAN Chair in 2025.

Meanwhile, Tourism Malaysia director-general Datuk Manoharan Periasamy said that visitors to KCCM 2024 can use public transport to go to the venue, such as the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), which stops at Jalan Conlay Station, or the KL Hop-On Hop-Off (KL HOHO) bus, which stops in front of Craft Complex.

“Considering the limited parking spaces, we are collaborating with KL HOHO to provide a free shuttle service to make it easier for visitors to reach the complex,” he said.
