1. CLV COUNTRIES PROMOTE CONNECTIVITY -- VIENTIANE TIMES

The prime ministers of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam discussed strengthening connectivity within the Sub-Mekong and Indochina regions. Discussion centred on improving roads, railway and sea connectivities and dry ports, and digital transformation to drive the region’s economic growth.

 

2. YOUTH URGED TO BE PART OF NATION BUILDING -- VIENTIANE TIMES   

Laos Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone urged ASEAN youth to play a critical role in shaping the region's socio-economic development. The contribution will be vital to achieving the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Blueprint goals.

1. NO MORE TRICKLE-DOWN ECONOMICS FOR PRABOWO -- THE JAKARTA POST

President-elect Prabowo has vowed to improve wealth distribution in the country and he will do so by pushing various programs and interventions deemed beneficials for the poor, in a move that analysts say reflects a distinctly socialist approach.

 

2.PRABOWO’S VISION: 3 MILLION HOUSES ANNUALLY TO ALLEVIATE HOUSING SHORTAGE -- JAKARTA GLOBE

Hashim S. Djojohadikusumo, Chairman of the Housing Task Force for President-elect Prabowo Subianto, announced that the administration plans to build three million houses annually. This target includes two million houses in rural and coastal areas and one million units in urban regions.

1. ASEAN NAVY CHIEFS UNITE IN PROTECTING MARITIME SECURITY -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

Top navy officers attending the 8th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting in Nay Pyi Taw touched on maritime collaborations — preparedness against natural disasters, exchange of expertise in rescue, and relief works and addressing issues related to natural disasters. Myanmar hosted the 18th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting.

 

2. MYANMAR DEVELOPING MSME TO SUPPORT GROWTH -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

Myanmar wants to promote the One Region One Product model to develop the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector to help grow the nation's GDP and generate employment. Currently, the sector only contributes about 30 per cent of the nation's GDP.

A free shuttle bus service for Marine Parade residents is seeing starkly different levels of ridership, with some routes having close to zero passengers at certain times but others having over 20 passengers.

1. VIETNAM-MALAYSIAPREMIERS VOW TO ENHANCE TIES -- VIETNAM NEWS

Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính met Malaysian Premier Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on the margins of the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related summits in Vientiane, Laos on Thursday.  Both discussed ways to enhance the Vietnam-Malaysia strategic partnership.

 

2. VIETNAM CONTINUES ELECTRICITY IMPORTS FROM LAOS -- VIETNAM NEWS

The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced the decision to continue importing electricity from neighbouring Laos to support the rising domestic demand and finalising the price framework. The electricity import is expected to be about 3,000MW by 2025 and about 5,000MW by 2030.
