JOHOR BAHRU, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- UDA Holdings Bhd (UDA) is targeting RM92.5 million in property and entrepreneurial sales through the organisation of the UDA Carnival 2024@Johor held at the Angsana Johor Bahru Mall here.

Its president and chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Salem Kailany said the three-day carnival, which began yesterday, involves the participation of 160 micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) entrepreneurs with a target of around 180,000 visitors.

“Johor is the third location (for the carnival) this year, and one of the focal points due to the reception and support from the residents of the southern part of the country, especially in the UDA development region, which has been very encouraging," he said at the launching ceremony of the UDA 2024@Johor Carnival at Padang Akasia, Angsana Johor Bahru Mall here today.

“In regard to this, UDA is targeting a total RM92.5 million, comprising RM90 million in property sales and RM2.5 million in entrepreneurial sales."

Also present at the event were Johor Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor and UDA chairman Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini.

Mohd Salem said the carnival which features seven zones including the UDA Pavilion, Ruang Rasa, Aura Wanita, Maskulin, Fiesta Bakat, Pa & Ma and attractive sales for visitors, is held in collaboration with various agencies such as the Perbadanan Usahawan Johor (PUJB), Johor Farmers Organisation (PPNJ), Johor branch of Kraftangan Malaysia and Johor State Islamic Religious Council.

He said the carnival will also be enlivened with various interesting activities such as Fiesta Bakat by National Sports Council (MSN), ‘Jom Mewarna Bintang Kecil bersama Didi & Friends’, traditional children’s sports, fireworks display, MADANI Sales by the Cooperatives Commission of Malaysia (SKM) as well as performances by artistes such as Haziq Rosebi and HyperAct.

"Additionally, UDA also had the opportunity to assist the needy community by distributing 'wakalah zakat' to 10 asnaf entrepreneurs amounting to RM30,000 and RM50,000 through the SSPN Prime Savings Account Contribution, in conjunction with the UDA Cares programme, benefitting 500 asnaf students in Johor," he said.

He said that visitors were offered two-storey terrace houses (Areca Terrace), semi-detached houses and two-storey bungalows (UDA Heights), two- and three-storey office shops (21BizHub) in Bandar UDA Utama, single-storey terrace houses in Taman Sedili in Kota Tinggi, as well as various property products in other states.

Meanwhile, Mohd Annuar said that also participating in the carnival were Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Foon Yew 2 and Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Suria, showcasing their innovative programmes.

He said the efforts of the school, such as SJKC Foon Yew 2, which produces compost fertiliser from food waste obtained from the school's canteen, should be praised.

"The compost fertiliser produced by this school can be sold and becomes a source of income for the school, more than that it also educates students that nothing is worthless if we are able to innovate," he also said.

Therefore, he added that his team would present the school's innovative ideas to the Ministry of Education (MOE) and would provide opportunities for other schools to participate in UDA carnivals in future to showcase creativity and promote an entrepreneurial culture among students.
