14 TVET Students To Further Studies In China - Belia Mahir

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- Fourteen youth with Level 3 Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) qualifications in Automotive Technology left for China today to further their technical and vocational education and training (TVET) through the Malaysia-China Institute (MCI) initiative.

National Organisation of Skilled Workers (Belia Mahir) head Mohammad Rizan Hassan said these students will pursue a Diploma in Automotive Inspection and Maintenance Technology.

The training, he added, would focus on hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), battery electric vehicles (BEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV).

"The MCI (initiative) is activated together with Belia Mahir and Tang International Education Group China, with the support of and collaboration with TVET institutions and industries in China. This group of students will undergo a one-year full-time training at Tangshan Polytechnic University, China.

"They will get full sponsorship and subsistence allowance by using the Work Based Learning (WBL) approach, involving several leading China automotive industries throughout their training period,” he said,

He said although all of them were not academically inclined or did not complete the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)-level studies, this initiative will prove that the SKM certification can guarantee a good future, including furthering their studies abroad.

"Belia Mahir is also confident that more local TVET students will pursue training in China in 2025-2026.

"This is based on the involvement of 1,776 TVET students who are undergoing short-term training of between two weeks and three months under the Malaysia-China Youth TVET Training (MCYTT) programme, which has been going on since 2023,” he said.
