Malaysia Elevates Digital Economy Presence At ENS 2024 With Local Tech Leaders

DUBAI, Oct 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is making a significant impact at the Expand North Star 2024 (ENS 2024) event in Dubai with a 120-square-foot pavilion featuring 15 local technology companies. 

Led by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), the companies showcasing their products and services include OmniNexus, Codon Genomics, ProximaX Malaysia, Wilstech, Vero AI, and others, highlighting Malaysia’sMalaysia’s advanced digital infrastructure and innovation capabilities.

MDEC’s head of digital industry acceleration, Wan Murdani Wan Mohamad, said the Malaysia pavilion, launched on Sunday, includes a dedicated meeting space for business discussions with potential investors, facilitating opportunities that could bring substantial value to Malaysia. 

The Consul General of Malaysia to Dubai, Mohd Fadly Amri Aliaman, and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) Dubai UAE Trade Commissioner, Megat Iskandar Ahmad Dassilah, officiated the pavilion’s launch ceremony.

In conjunction with ENS 2024, MDEC also hosted an evening networking dinner, welcoming over 100 Malaysian professionals and industry leaders. 

Notable attendees included Malaysia Ambassador-Designate to the UAE Tengku Datuk Sirajuzzaman Tengku Mohamed Ariffin and key leaders from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, Tourism Dubai and the Malaysian Business Council of the UAE.

Wan Murdani highlighted the evening’s role in fostering collaboration between Malaysian tech companies and Dubai’s business environment, as well as the importance of ongoing engagement with agencies like the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and the Malaysian Embassy to secure regional business opportunities. 

He acknowledged challenges such as physical distance and costs but expressed confidence that strong local partnerships could help mitigate these issues.

The ENS 2024, a gathering for startups and investors, taking place from Oct 13-16 at Dubai Harbour, is part of the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) Global 2024, the world’s largest technology event, which kicked off from Oct 14-17.

With over 6,500 exhibiting companies, 1,800 startups, and 1,200 investors from more than 180 countries, ENS 2024 and GITEX Global 2024 are set to propel the next generation of AI-driven technologies.
