KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 (Bernama) -- The Bernama Radio & MITI Fun Run event was organised as an initiative to strengthen collaboration and foster closer ties between the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) and the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI).
Bernama's chief executive officer, Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, stated that the event also enabled Bernama and MITI staff to get to know MITI Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz better.
"Alhamdulillah, we are honoured that MITI has collaborated with Bernama, particularly Bernama Radio, to organise the Bernama Radio & MITI Fun Run.
“…while running, we could strengthen our bond (with the minister) and discuss current issues," she said in an interview with Bernama after the programme, at Tasik Titiwangsa today.
She expressed her hope that Bernama would host similar programmes with other ministries in the future.
More than 60 staff members from Bernama and MITI participated in the run today, which was flagged off by Tengku Zafrul and Nur-ul Afida at Wisma Bernama at 7.30 am.
The inaugural event was held to vitalise the annual National Sports Day celebration, which is observed in October, while also promoting a healthy lifestyle among the public.
Meanwhile, Tengku Zafrul posted on X that the programme not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also unites the community.
“Next!! What sport should I join next? Team MITI and Team Bernama are jogging at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa to celebrate National Sports Day (HSN) with the mission of fostering a sports culture and promoting fitness among the community.
“Even more exciting, Team Radio Bernama set up their radio booth at Black & White Cafe to ‘havockan’ (liven up) the atmosphere,” he said after participating in the 2.5 km run from Wisma Bernama to Taman Tasik Titiwangsa.
He further noted that the event was enhanced by the distribution of Deepavali gift packs to Bernama staff who will be celebrating the festival at the end of October.
