Budget 2025 Should Serve As Cornerstone For Sustainable Development In Sabah - Fahmi

19/10/2024 08:05 PM

KOTA KINABALU, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- Budget 2025 tabled in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday should serve as a cornerstone for sustainable development in Sabah, said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

He said that several aspects of the national budget emphasised by the prime minister require attention, such as the MADANI Adopted Village Initiative.

“The prime minister also requested that ministers, including the Sabah Chief Minister (Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor), adopt specific villages to gain a deeper understanding of everything happening in those communities and explore how both the federal and state governments can work to resolve their issues.

“Additionally, the prime minister underscored the initiatives led by Sabah Chief Minister to promote the blue economy, emphasising the importance of marine resources in fisheries and renewable energy.”

He told reporters this during the MADANI Rakyat 2024 Sayangi Sabah programme, officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim here today.

Regarding the programme, Fahmi said that he and the Prime Minister’s Office would review the benefits, costs and considerations necessary for future improvements.

“If the prime minister wishes to implement a similar programme, perhaps with some adjustment, we will simplify its format to effectively communicate all the plans being executed by the government.

“This will include everything announced in Budget 2025 and we will also utilise the National Information Dissemination Center (NADI) for this initiative,” he added.
