Kuala Lumpur, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- The Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia (JPSM) in collaboration with Universal Fitness & Leisure Sdn Bhd had organised the Forest Trail Conservation Programme in conjunction with its 123rd anniversary which is celebrated on Oct 16 every year.
According to a media statement by JPSM today, the Forest Trail Conservation Programme was held simultaneously throughout Malaysia on any Permanent Reserve Forest trail, Government Land or Owned Land with the permission of the authorities or owners on Oct 19.
"This programme is an initiative of JPSM to protect and improve forest trails besides improving safety aspects and fostering awareness among the community about the importance of preserving and conserving the environment," according to the department.
JPSM has set a record in the Malaysia Book of Records under The Most Simultaneous Trail Conservation Programme category on Oct 19 with the participation of 21,501 people through a total of 376 conservation events in implementing the programme.
The MBOR certificate was presented to JPSM Forest Eco-Park Division director Mohd Yussainy Md Yusop by MBOR representatives, Megat Faris Hussien and Siti Nur Hanim Muhamed at Taman Eko Rimba in Kota Damansara recently.
