HAWANA Campus Tour 2024 Focuses On Sharing Journalism Insights With Students

KOTA KINABALU, Oct 25 (Bernama) -- Sharing insights on journalism with undergraduates is the main focus of the National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2024 student tour programme.

Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chief executive officer and HAWANA 2024 Working Committee chairman Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin said the programme aims to expose university students to the current developments in the media industry.

“This year, HAWANA has introduced a campus tour series aimed at sharing information and updates on the journalism field and the media industry.

“The next leg of the HAWANA 2024 student tour programme will be held at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) for the Central Zone,” she told reporters after attending the HAWANA 2024 Sabah Zone Tour at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) here today.

Also present were UMS deputy vice-chancellor (Research and Innovation) Prof. Dr. Rosalam Sarbatly and Bernama editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, who is also the HAWANA 2024 Project director.

In conjunction with today’s programme, Nur-ul Afida presented a high-performance computer and a smart television to the Communication Programme, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at UMS.

The student tour programme is part of the HAWANA 2024 celebration and covers six zones: Sarawak, Sabah, Central, Northern, East Coast, and Southern.

Meanwhile, Rosalam said UMS is grateful to Bernama for selecting the university for the programme and sharing Bernama’s expertise and experience in journalism with the students.

He said the programme is highly beneficial, especially for communication students, as it exposes them to journalism.
