Supersub Alif Izwan Strikes It Right For Red Giants In Away Win Over Kedah

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- Supersub Muhammad Aliff Izwan Yuslan was the hero for Selangor FC when he scored the winning goal in their 1-0 victory over Kedah Darul Aman (KDA) FC in the Super League match at the Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Setar tonight.

Selangor, playing for the first time since the shocking resignation of former head coach Nidzam Jamil, showed their true colours to bounce back from their defeat to table-toppers Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) in the previous game.

After a scoreless first half, Selangor interim head coach Abdi Hassan made the right move by bringing on Aliff Izwan and the substitute was on hand to finish off a cross from Ahmad Zikri Mohd Khalili in the 47th minute.

But the Canaries, under the guidance of coach Nafuzi Zain, never gave up and nearly found the equaliser in the 63rd minute when Sony Norde's attempt missed the target by inches.

The away victory sees the Red Giants remain second in the standings with 29 points from 14 matches - eight behind JDT.

Meanwhile, over at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium, Perak FC fought back to hold PDRM FC 1-1 in another Super League match.

The game came alive in the second half with PDRM breaking the deadlock through Aremu Timothy, who headed home a cross from the right by Mohd Safiee Ahmad in the 56th minute.

However, the Cops’ hopes of securing their first win after only drawing their last three matches were dashed when Luciano Guaycochea levelled the scores for Perak with a freekick goal in the 68th minute.

The third Super League match of the day between Sri Pahang FC and Kuching City FC had to be postponed due to the unplayable pitch conditions at the Temerloh Municipal Council Stadium.

Earlier, the match had to be halted in the 31st minute due to heavy rain, with visitors Kuching City leading 1-0 through a Yuki Tanigawa strike in the 14th minute.
