T'ganu Crown Prince Calls For Closer State-Federal Collaboration To Preserve Biodiversity

He said collaboration should be implemented at various levels and continuously, to maintain environmental balance for the greater good of humanity.

He emphasised that biodiversity which encompasses all life forms within the earth’s ecosystem, currently faces threats due to climate change, habitat destruction, chemical pollution and atmospheric disruption.

“Biodiversity is God’s gift to us, a great blessing in life. It is important to maintain the balance of nature. The effort to protect biodiversity is not as easy as it seems, therefore, it is important to have a special collaboration between the state government and the federal government to protect biodiversity.

“Collaboration in terms of scientific and technical expertise, comprehensive data, financial resources and also policy coordination is needed to further strengthen these efforts.

“At the same time, it is essential to open channels of collaboration with private sectors, academics, local communities and other entities to jointly fulfil our shared duty of caring for biological biodiversity for the benefit of the entire country,” he said when gracing the opening of the Terengganu Biodiversity Seminar 2024: Safeguarding Biodiversity for a Sustainable Future, here.

A total of 300 participants, including academics, environmental non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and government agency representatives attended the seminar.
