KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8 (Bernama) -- Kazakhs from across Asia, including Kazakhstan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and beyond, will gather in Kuala Lumpur for the first time on November 11 for Quryltay, a grand assembly dedicated to fostering cultural unity and strengthening cross-border ties.

This traditional and historically significant gathering celebrates the shared heritage, culture, language, and values binding Kazakh communities across the continent.

President of the Kazakh Community in Malaysia, Bayan Nishan, said Quryltay is an opportunity to honour their past while laying the groundwork for a future built on mutual respect and collaboration.

“Bringing together Kazakhs from across Asia is more than a celebration; it is a declaration of unity, resilience, and shared heritage,” she said.

Jointly organised by the Kazakhstan community in Malaysia, Otandastar Qory, an organisation under Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs that unites the Kazakh diaspora across the globe, and the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Malaysia, along with key sponsors and partners from Kazakhstan and Malaysia, the event will be held at Menara Public Gold in Kuala Lumpur from 10 am to 5 pm.

In a statement, Quryltay’s organisers stated that the event will serve as a bridge between Kazakhs of various backgrounds, reaffirming their shared identity while celebrating the unique contributions of each community.

“This gathering also emphasises the importance of cultural preservation in an era of globalisation, fostering a sense of pride and solidarity among the attendees,”  the statement read.

The event aims to fortify connections among the Kazakh diaspora in Asia, address key challenges, and explore new opportunities for mutual growth and understanding, such as the teaching of the Kazakh language at Universiti Malaya.

Highlights of the Quryltay include a cultural exhibition featuring traditional music, dance, and art performances that showcase the diverse cultural tapestry of Kazakh communities from various Asian regions; panel discussions and workshops led by experts on topics such as cross-cultural collaboration, heritage preservation, economic partnerships, and youth empowerment; and community networking opportunities that enable participants to forge personal and professional connections, promoting unity and cooperation across borders.

Special guest appearances by renowned Kazakh historians, cultural figures, creative industry leaders, experts, and diplomats are expected, bringing invaluable insights and inspiring messages.
