KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, the chairman of DRB-HICOM, Gas Malaysia, EON Petromin Sdn Bhd, and Neste (Malaysia) Bhd, has been awarded the Anugerah Seri Mutiara 2024 in the Corporate Leadership category by the Persatuan Kebajikan Anak Melayu Pulau Pinang di Wilayah Persekutuan dan Selangor (PEKENANG).
In addition to him, Faradina Mohammad Ghouse, group chief compliance officer of AmBank Group, was honoured with the award in the Banking Compliance Leadership category.
PEKENANG president Datuk Muhamad Maiden Abd Majid said the association recognises the contributions and outstanding services of Malay individuals from Penang who have brought significant impact, transformation and solutions to their respective industries.
“We plan to leverage the expertise of the winners of Anugerah Seri Mutiara to help students, especially those sitting for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations.
“We hope to prepare them (students) earlier through ‘Kursus Intensif SPM’, where the winners could help conduct some programmes ahead of their exams,” he told Bernama at PEKENANG's 55th anniversary dinner here last night.
PEKENANG, established in Selangor in 1968, aims to support Penang-born Malays who migrate to Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
In addition to fostering friendship and unity among members, the event also raised funds to support welfare programmes planned by PEKENANG for the coming year.
During the event, a book titled Lost Nation: Dirge For Palestine by Prof Datuk Dr Mohamed Ghouse Nasuruddin was launched by Penang Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak.
The book reflects on the plight of Palestinians suffering unspeakable atrocities at the hands of Zionists and serves as a tribute to the Palestinians’ resilience and resistance. Also present was Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.
PEKENANG now boasts a membership of over 800, spanning three generations.
